The doctors and staff at Alpine Animal Hospital are committed to your pet's health and well being. We are a full-service animal hospital whose mission is to provide affordable and high quality veterinary care for the animals in the greater Corvallis area.  


Alpine Animal Hospital has been a Corvallis fixture since 1970. The clinic is located in the scenic hills of North Corvallis on Highland Drive, just north of Crescent Valley High School. A highly qualified staff of three doctors, certified technicians and assistants is prepared to accommodate your veterinary needs. 


Alpine Animal Hospital is a mixed animal practice, providing care to companion animals as well as farm animals. Our full service clinic offers a wide range of services ranging from routine examinations and surgical procedures to emergency care.

  • Dr. Bret Hixson

    Dr. Hixson graduated from Iowa State University in 1977. Dr. Hixson gained much of his early experience while growing up around his family's working cattle ranches in Colorado and Eastern Oregon. Dr. Hixson remains an avid horseman and enjoys team roping and mounted shooting in his spare time.


    Dr. Clark and Dr. Hixson purchased the hospital in 1989. Dr. Hixson has strong commitments to the Corvallis area.

  • Dr. Dale Clark

    Dr. Clark is a 1985 Oregon State University graduate who grew up in Corvallis.  Dr. Clark'™s early veterinary experience came from following his father, also Dr. Dale Clark, who practiced veterinary medicine in Corvallis for many years.  Many of our clients today remember a young Dr. Clark 'assisting' his dad.


    Dr. Clark and Dr. Hixson purchased the hospital in 1989. Dr. Clark has strong commitments to the Corvallis area.

  • Deb, CVT

    Deb comes to us from a position at the OSU Large Animal Hospital. Deb has always had an interest in medicine, and worked as an EMT before becoming a certified veterinary technician.
    Deb is our country girl; she lives on a cattle ranch and loves taking care of the herd. Also at the ranch are her dogs, horses, and chickens. In her spare time Deb enjoys riding her horses, cross-stitching, and reading.

  • Alexis

    Alexis began as a veterinary assistant at Alpine in October of 2019. She is currently pursuing a degree in animal science with a fisheries and wildlife minor at OSU to one day become a wildlife veterinary technician and work with wildlife rehabilitation. She loves learning about diseases and health of a variety of species. In her time outside of Alpine, she loves watching classic horror films with her two kitties Pumpkin and Cedar, and spending as much time outside as possible.

  • Andie

    Andie has been a veterinary assistant at Alpine since the beginning of 2020. With a degree in Microbiology, Andie enjoys expanding on that knowledge with the opportunity to learn new things every day. Andie enjoys hunting and fishing, as well as spending time with family which includes her corgi Zoey, and her cat Mike.

  • Jenna

    Jenna started with Alpine behind the scenes as Kennel staff and recently joined our team of assistants. An animal lover at heart, she has enjoyed learning how to give meaningful care to our patients. A UC Santa Cruz Art and Literature graduate, Jenna loves painting and drawing in her time outside of Alpine.

  • Jessica

    Jessica is a dedicated assistant and loves that she never goes a day without learning something new. She is currently completing her Bachelors in animal science with a pre-vet option in hopes of becoming a large animal vet. She loves trail riding with her horse and has even crossed the continental divide on horseback.
